Small Paper-Mache Folk Art Doll
This traditional paper-mache doll from Mexico is commonly called “muneca de carton” in Spanish. They were originally created in the late colonial to early Independence period for poorer families to imitate more expensive porcelain dolls from Spain.
There are a number of other stories that surround the dolls as well.
This doll is jointed and hand painted.
Made in Mexico.
